Sept 14-16, 2018  flat water kayak trip on the Connecticut River in the Upper Valley of NH/VT (Bradford to Orford)

We paddle on flat gently moving waters, delightful for a relaxing paddle or to stretch your muscles.  Kayak rentals are available, with paddle, pfd and dry bag.

Accommodations: Either Breakfast on the Connecticut B&B  or we will rent a great house right on the Connecticut River in Piermont NH.

This is a flat water trip, above Wilder Dam.

Piermont River House—https://www.vrbo.com/702243                                                                We will put in at Newbury boat launch and paddle down to the River House in the oxbow–about 6 miles, then paddle the next day down to Bradford (3 miles) or to Orford (about 11 miles total).

Or you could camp overnight at my place in S. Strafford ($30/night normal rates), about 35 minutes from the lodging, and use the covered tent platform for group space.  Firepit, stream, outhouse, nearby house.  We can provide tents, groundcloths, sleeping pads, even sleeping bags if you need them.

Or you could commute:  Join us for one day or two days of paddling.

We hope you will carpool up here.

Details:

Friday night at the lodging:   snacks, games, etc.  We can make dinner there.

Saturday:  9:30am start from the place of lodging.  Shuttle boats to starting point. We leave a car at our lodging for the return drive that night to pick up the cars.       About 6 miles day 1.  We count on 2 mph on the river, which includes exploring the river, wetlands, estuaries.    Dinner at the lodging.  campfire dinner if weather permits, Relaxing evening together.

Sunday:  launch from the house, paddle to boat  take out. We will pre-set the location of cars. For B&B: you can leave right from boat launch or return for your car to the B&B. For Piermont house: We can then return to the lodging in Piermont to gather our things.  We have the house for Sunday night as well, for those who can stay.

Costs:  $250, includes food through Sunday lunch.  Kayak rentals at $25/day special rate = $40 for two days rental, with pfd, paddle, boat, instruction and paddling tips.

Deposit: 1/2 of your costs plus your share of the lodging (splitting the house among all who stay there, cost tbd)
